This neighborhood park is a 3-acre recreational park located in Cape Coral, Florida. Paul Sanborn Park is an active family park with amenities, including a playground for toddlers as well as 5-12 year olds. The master plan is designed around several strong axial relationships between the parking area to the north, the Baptist Church to the east and SE 3rd Terrace to the west. These axial relationships terminate at the park's core around a heritage banyan tree which will serve as the park's focal point. The park contains a large picnic shelter with outdoor grill as well as a small picnic shelter for single family use. Amenities include a basketball court, horseshoe court, and a 1⁄4 mile exercise path. During the City sponsored design charrette, Sweet Sparkman Architects worked with local citizens, Cape Coral Police Department, and the neighboring church to develop the master plan which includes provisions for pedestrian connections, security lighting and ample parking. The budget for this project was $1.5 million. Sweet Sparkman responsibilities included Master Planning and Architect of Record.
