Located at the heart of Melbourne, Spaces Rialto is in a building that defines the city's skyline. We designed the first three floors of the building, offering 2580 sqm with fully equipped private and shared workspaces, entertainment, and relax areas. The architect team worked closely with Spaces to achieve consistent branding throughout the project, which revolves around a contemporary industrial design with open, well-lit, and connected corridors.
We use wood on almost every office surface to bring a calming feel and not give a too corporate look to space. This design decision completely aligns with the brand's spirit: making customers feel like home at work. To further complement the wood's natural tone, we crafted a lively and pronounced color palette and selected minimalist furniture.
Since we are focusing on user experience, a dazzling design is not required. The project thrives thanks to the intense color of the cold wood background. Grey and red chairs in the co-working area stand out and guide guests to their seats. In the meeting room, we use green as the accent color and complement this using green shades of Kvadrat fabric on the TV wall.
Contrast does matter in our design. To create a detail of visual interest in the business club area, we gave the Muuto Oslo chair a deep green tint that sits beside the red Viccarbe Ryutaro tables. The neutral grey Kadvrat upholstered Mayor AJ6 sofa from &Tradition balances these two vibrant colors' strong contrast. Altogether, they blend harmoniously as all the shades are relatively calm.
Light is an essential part of helping the color scheme shine, so we utilized glass in several keys areas, including; the meeting booths, working areas, and especially the coffee bar, to liven up the calm surroundings. Even though natural light plays a vital part in this design, space does not lose its visual appeal when night falls. Various pendant lights were selected to set the right mood for each area; each tends to have pale and light colors and simple design to harmonize with the furniture's bright tone.
