In the fall of 2017, The University of Oklahoma’s Price College of Business welcomed executive education and graduate programs to a brand new, 21st Century learning environment. The 27,000-square-foot facility, located at OU’s Research Park in Oklahoma City, will allow students to engage with their professors, colleagues and community like never before.
Stepping off the elevator onto the third floor, visitors will first see a mural depicting the history and growth of downtown Oklahoma City, which includes a quote from Gene Rainbolt, for whom the facility was named, and a wall length stock ticker. Venturing further into the space, they will come across a collaborative study room, private lounges, study nooks, and both traditional and active learning classrooms. Located on the other side of the floor are conference rooms, offices, and an interactive lounge, which includes a kitchen for students and faculty and boasts a view of downtown Oklahoma City.
To achieve the optimal line of sight from anywhere within a classroom, adjustable tables and chairs were used to create tiered seating and large screens descend from the ceiling in the front and middle of the room. Flexible furniture, modern technology, and a strategic scattering of writable surfaces give users the ability to transform a space to meet their specific needs each day. Natural light and inspiration permeates every room of the facility.
The Skyfold Zenith 51 was incorporated to achieve optimal flexibility of space in the Chickasaw Nation Grand Lecture Hall. A mixed finish comprised of Lampre Markerboard and fabric allows for the continuation of writable surfaces scattered throughout the space. When lowered, the Skyfold Zenith seals against a custom mullion on the window, to allow for a wall of windows that facilitates natural lighting. And, since the Skyfold Zenith pockets are located unobtrusively in the ceiling, the wall does not distract from the stunning custom ceiling and lighting applications.
This new space tells the story of the Price College of Business and its alumni, all tied together with that special brand of “Sooner Magic”.
