rm/a is a professional firm that deals with architecture, landscape, graphics and design. Our goal is the continuous search for innovative high quality design solutions. Our strongly experimental approach applies to any level of intervention: from the smallest item of daily use up to large scale urban models. In the field of architecture, this analytical methodology is linked to the awareness that the designers have a profound responsibility to the landscape in which they operate. Each architectural project, then, is rooted deeply in the place where it stands. It’s also our ambition to achieve the highest standards of environmental sustainability - given the specificities of each operation. We are looking for a shrewd contextual integration through the study of new space and material solutions. The team is composed of valid internal and external collaborators, and it is committed every day in order to balance quality and cost of each project proposal, in an intense and constructive dialogue with the client. Born in Milan in 1979, Riccardo Mazzoni earned a degree in Architecture with honors in 2004 from the Politecnico di Milano and a PhD graduation in Architectural and Urban Design in 2008 from the same university. He also attended courses and workshops at the Technische Universiteit Delft (Netherlands) and the Universidad Autonoma of Lisbon (Portugal). He is Contract Professor in the Faculty of Architecture of Milan Polytechnic, where he teaches Architectural Design and Architectural Theory. He participated at several seminars and international conferences, including the New York-Milan Exchange Project at the New York Institute of Technology in 2006 and the Capital Cities Wicked Problems Congress at the American University of Sharjah (UAE) as speaker in 2008. From 2004 to 2007 he collaborated with renowned international studies, focusing particularly on housing and office projects, but also dealing with religious, industrial and expositive buildings. In 2008 he founded rm/a, an architectural firm that deals with 360-degree design projects. He also participated in national and international architecture competitions: in 2002 he won the High Rise Buildings Contest organized by the Technische Universiteit Delft, in 2008 he was a finalist in the Parco Radicelli Competition sponsored by the City of Rome.
