Evergreen Pointe

The Evergreen Pointe house started with the challenge of analyzing a site within a neighborhood that had yet to be built. The sight itself had a slight up-slope to it with nice views to the Columbia River located to the south. However there were to be up at least 6 more houses built in the future with privacy and protecting view corridors being the primary concern.

Our solution was a courtyard typology that protected a 2nd floor outdoor area aimed at the river view. Because the outdoor area was over the garage and living space we used a green roof system that integrated concrete pavers with the vegetation to create the raised courtyard.

The 2nd and 3rd floors of the house step up the site and form a privacy barrier from the surrounding houses. Primary living spaces are on the middle floor and spill out onto the courtyard. The master suite and private library are on the 3rd floor with the best views out to the Columbia and Portland beyond.
