As the interior design consultant, YANG draws inspiration from the city emblem Fishing Women’s lovely romantic story, and decides “Deep Sea Pearl Picking” as the theme. Pearls, fishing nets and other culture elements are used as clues between spaces, making InterContinental Zhuhai an upscale seaside business resort that carries on the legend of the prestigious brand.
The overall spatial design continues to adopt exclusive black and gold tone of InterContinental brand, together with the luster and line combination of metal, glass and marbles and so on to create modern, chic, and luxury feeling. Marine blue forms various tones and depicts magnificent underwater world in the carpet. The pearly shape and natural texture together with changing forms of fishing nets and environmental friendly materials are adopted by designers in the modern approach, which is showcased in the soft and hard furnishings of the hotel, and endows the space with simple and plain aura of the fishing life, and romantic and leisured sentiment of the coastal city.
Lobby space looks simple and grandeur. Natural marble textures in large-scale resembles the surging momentum of waves, while the symmetrically placed front desk, information counter and two groups of sofas creating a harmonious touch of simpleness.
Inspiration of the All-day Dining Restaurant comes from seaside fishing rafts. Designers have the glimmering lights at night ingeniously introduced into the entrance with knitting metal and back-lit glass strips, so as to have urban residents’ anxiety and restlessness healed by the simple lifestyle of fishing families. Decorative cabinets and screens add layers to the space and create a mystic-and-romantic dining aura.
Ballroom design have the romantic feeling further extended. Chandelier hanging above high resembles the very moment of floating water drops when fishing with nets, and lights emitted from the end of the light tubes looks very much like the luster of numerous pearls. Wall-mounted crystal scones reflect the motion of an open fishing net, adding artistic touches to the space.
The Executive Lounge is fully integrated with the angle of the building itself. Together with wood ceiling’s recessed design, it brings a rhythmic touch of the space. Wedding hall resembles the shape of a closed fishing net, working as a metaphor of harvesting happiness for the newly-weds. With the top and sea-side wall introducing natural light, the space doesn’t feel dreary at all. Instead, it has all the stars, sun and moon included, making people believe that the romance of love also exists in reality.
Design languages in the guestroom emphasize opulence and elegance. Light and dark woods used in the guestroom create a serene sleeping aura, while the leisure chaise along side the floor-to-ceiling window, providing comfortable seating experience for ocean viewing, have the overall space quality uplifted with its human-centered design.
