Millesime GNP is a gastronomic event in Mexico City. The 2024 edition features six pop-up restaurants that explore water through contemporary design. Each intervention, from the surreal atmosphere to the environmental reflection, transforms the dining experience into a unique sensorial journey. For this edition, GERARDO GARCÍA STUDIO participated with its Night Swim concept.
Night Swim is an immersive sensorial experience designed by Gerardo García Studio for the Millesime 2024 pop-up restaurants. The concept, which explores the multiple manifestations of water—the sea, rain, the pool—and light in its different forms, invites diners to immerse themselves in a space that recreates the sensation of being underwater, illuminated by the moon.
The dining room is accessed through a changing room, a conceptual space that evokes a humid, transitory atmosphere, preparing us for entering the restaurant. Upon entering, we encounter a sculptural installation featuring reflective, prismatic luminous forms, inviting us to explore the space. The subdued, controlled lighting of this initial space prepares visitors for immersion.
With capacity for 110 people, the tables are arranged inside a pool, arranged in rectangular and round formats, all with sea views. The ceiling, inspired by the surface of the water, uses a textile projected with ROSCO Light Effect lights to create the sensation of being submerged, enveloping diners in a dynamic and magical aquatic environment. Each table has controlled lighting that highlights the dishes, creating a nighttime atmosphere in which the water's surface and the cuisine take center stage. To complete the experience, one of the space's long walls offers sea views through large-format images.
Night Swim is more than a restaurant; it is a space where water, light, and cuisine combine to offer a unique experience that completely immerses you in the magic of the night.
