La commissione è arrivata nel 2016 e si è conclusa nel 2018, con la ristrutturazione completa di cinque spazi (1032 m²) nel Tempio della Sagrada Familia.
Il progetto completo è stato realizzato in modo completo attraverso un disegno semplice e rispettoso dell'ambiente già costruito, con linee e volumi semplici che cercano di integrarsi nell'ambiente e di preservare ciascuno degli elementi originali di Gaudí. Allo stesso modo, si è cercato di incorporare tutte le installazioni e le strutture in modo da minimizzare il loro impatto, fornendo agli spazi una grande funzionalità e comfort.
Chiostri Montserrat e Mercè
Il progetto mira a trasformare i chiostri della Sagrada Familia in sale polivalenti. I chiostri sono stati originariamente concepiti da Gaudí come spazi ambulatoriali aperti che collegano le facciate del tempio con le sacrestie agli angoli. Una volta completata la costruzione del Tempio, questa sarà la loro configurazione, ma mentre i lavori proseguono, il loro uso è stato ridefinito.
The end result consists of two elongated spaces, with large windows on both sides. Their roofs and facades with typically Gaudinian geometric definitions use materials such as stone, concrete and ceramic. A stand-alone module has been created on the back of the Cloisters containing the stage, lectern, audiovisual and projection equipment, installation and climate control elements, as well as peripheral spaces for bathrooms and storage rooms. The material used for the two spaces was wood: oak in the Cloister of Mercè and beech in the Cloister of Montserrat.
Museum space, new main shop and museum public toilets
The starting point was the unification of the exhibition spaces and the area of the souvenir shop in the current path of the museum, located in the basement of the building. These spaces alternate vaulted ceilings and façades with Gaudinian geometries, but also with structures more typical of the prefabricated building systems of the 70s and 80s. Another drawback of the project was to find different levels of plan for the placement of foundation elements which are characteristic of the Temple and which should not have been damaged.
The overall result of the architectural intervention is above all respectful, functional, with simple lines. As for the systems and their integration, it is complex but efficient and above all hidden, which allows to obtain a clean spatial image in all interventions.
The satisfaction of intervening in a building of these characteristics, the teamwork with the Temple technicians and the desire to perfect and learn are other aspects that add value, even if invisible, to this great project.
