The new Schloßbergmuseum is being built at one of the most central points in Graz and together with the GrazMuseum it forms an overall experience that reflects the Schloßberg in its historical and scientific dimensions. It is the first information center on the Schloßberg. Currently, the wall forms a strong barrier in the access area of the existing ensemble and separates the courtyard of the museum from the rest of the Schloßberg area. A much more inviting set-up was needed.

The most important architectural intervention is therefore the connection between the Bastei and the Schloßberg area. A circular path dissolves the strong barrier, connects the individual uses for visitors and becomes the structuring aspect of the design. The circle organizes the route for the visitors. It arranges and opens the previously problematic closed outer wall and turns it into an intuitive entrance situationB.

The gesture of this new layer should also be brought into the 3rd dimension. It takes on both symbolic and functional tasks. The planting of the path circle inside the center invites visitors to rest and linger. An attraction with a high quality of stay and shade is created which faces the miracle garden as a haven of peace.
