The building, set in the Tyra River valley of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, stands on a historic site previously occupied by a solitary gamekeeper's lodge. Here, the previous owner built a log house and established a pond, setting the stage for our architectural intervention. Our firm was engaged to design an extension to this existing log house, incorporating spaces for modern relaxation and recreation. Concurrently, we were tasked with transforming the garden and pond to create a unified, cohesive aesthetic with the house.

Our design inspiration stems from the old log house's original geometry, reimagined in the extension's layout. The design employs diagonal lines forming triangles and trapezoids, influencing both the floor plan, which envelops the old house, and various exterior and interior features. Predominantly subterranean, the above-ground part is topped with a green roof adorned with mature trees, blending effortlessly with the surrounding landscape.

This addition enhances the existing house by introducing vital functions such as areas for social activities, wellness facilities, guest accommodations, a wine cellar, and a garage. The central room acts as a fluid connector, connecting the front and rear sections of the property. Additionally, we designed a discreet apartment in the quieter northern section, marked by an externally visible, distinctive wooden structure. The underground corridor links the new garage, extension, and the original log cabin, leading to a club, wine cellar, and a salt cave.

Interior design elements include Swarovski's illuminated crystal panels and a chandelier resembling a frozen waterfall, complemented by extensive cladding in Welsh quartzite and local oak wood. These are paired with stretched ceilings and artworks by Jakub Nepraš, creating a unique aesthetic.

Our design philosophy focused on creating a building that is both timeless and modern while being mindful of its environmental impact and respecting the natural character of the surrounding landscape.
