Neri&Hu were asked to transform a typical two-story sales building on the outskirts of Beijing into an attractive clubhouse and sales center including cultural program. They took advantage of the donut shaped volume to craft two sequences of interlocking journeys. One for clubhouse members and one for sales center guests.

Neri&Hu carve spaces out of the grey brick mass to interlock with the garden and blur the boundary between inside and out. A veil of warm-toned aluminium latticework softens the harsher bricks. The traditional brick tiles form the foundation of the building mass that extends from exterior landscape into interior in-between spaces.

Brick and wood paneling form the primary backdrop for the interiors. Neri&Hu pay special attention to sculpted ceilings throughout the interior spaces. Each void is shaped with geometric cuts that interact with the sky and bring in an abundance of daylight reflected of the Venetian plaster. The architects complete the interior palette with custom furniture, brass metal details and vein-cut natural stone accents.

The clubhouse journey leads along a 100-person multi-purpose hall for events, a spacious business lounge with bar, a library with children’s reading room, private function room, family media room, a red-wine and cigar lounge bar, and ends up at a rooftop deck.

A prominent space in the clubhouse is dedicated to an art gallery equipped with hanging moveable walls for a flexible display system. A sculpted ceiling allows for a visual connection to the upper level.

The sales center journey begins at a double-height reception and leads potential buyers along a media room and upstairs across a bridge over the courtyard to a generous sales presentation lounge with VIP rooms, a bar and children’s play room.
