For 2023, Davis Furniture proudly celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its Elements line of interior accessories by introducing a new Elements Color Story and several additions, including the Aki Coat Rack by Portugal-based designer Christian Haas. Blending the technological precision of modern design with a celebration of solid wood’s unique, natural characteristics, Aki’s stately silhouette gently curves from top to bottom to form a memorable and timeless coat rack.
Aki joins Davis Furniture’s Elements offering, which includes a variety of accessories that span coat hooks, coat racks, umbrella stands and even side tables. Inspired by the organic forms of a gallant tree, each of Aki’s three legs is formed from steam-bent solid oak or walnut and joined together near the top of the rack with a unique triangular detail. Attached to this centralized unifying structure are six supplemental coat hooks adding increased utility to each piece. Available in all of Davis’ standard oak and walnut finishes and fifteen newly released Elements painted colors, this accessory is perfectly positioned to furnish those “in-between spaces” where the necessities for design, beauty and function merge.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Christian Haas set up his design studio in Munich in 2000. Seven years later, Haas relocated to Paris, where he established another studio and launched his label in 2011. In 2015, he founded Studio Christian Haas in Porto, Portugal, where he has since worked for a range of renowned brands, primarily in furniture, lighting, tableware and glassware. His wide-ranging activities mean Hass also develops interior designs for international brands and companies in the automotive, fashion and lifestyle segments. His creations meld minimalism with luxury and integrate aesthetics driven by the harmony between usefulness, emotionality, longevity and uniqueness. His studio has worked for international brands such as Schönbuch, Karakter Copenhagen, Gaia & Gino, Idée / Muji, Rosenthal, Villeroy & Boch, Arita 2016 and more.
