Yougennji is located by Hozu-gawa River where runs into a basin named Kameoka in a deep mountain of west in Kyoto. Ryoi Suminokura opened the waterway for rafts or cargo by crushing the rocks of Hozu-gawa River 400 years ago. A memorial event was held on the anniversary of his death. We made a vessel of bamboo near the local river with candlelight and offered the ancient rice which was produced in our hometown before greeting the spirit of Ryoi. We represented Kameoka Basin by a vessel of bamboo with candlelight, Hozu-gawa River by thin rods of bamboo and rafts or cargo with rice in Hozu-gawa River by bamboo grass with rice.
