Set on the waterfront in Manalapan, Florida, 110 Churchill Way is a contemporary residence conceived as much as a gallery as a home. Art, furniture and lighting were carefully curated throughout the interiors, with individual pieces selected for their sculptural presence and relationship to the architecture.
Our studio created two custom glass installations for the residence - DragonFly and Sunbeam. Rather than functioning simply as sources of illumination, each chandelier was conceived as a standalone artwork, individually scaled and composed for its setting.
The DragonFly installation introduces an organic sculptural form above the dining area, contrasting with the home's precise architectural lines, glass surfaces and marble finishes. The Sunbeam composition uses elongated handcrafted glass elements to create a distinctly different expression while maintaining the same emphasis on material, light and craftsmanship.
Although different in form, the two installations share a common design language. Each responds to its architectural setting while becoming part of the wider collection of art and design assembled throughout the residence.
The result is an approach to architectural lighting in which the chandelier is not added after the interior is complete - it becomes part of the collection itself.
