CHAPEAUX by Foscarini: three personalities for a magical, suspended, impalpable light.
Designed by Rodolfo Dordoni

Foscarini and Dordoni, together again with CHAPEAUX, a refined, elegant project in which the parts of the composition have been reduced to a minimum. A collection of table lamps for three personalities, three atmospheres of light, three different approaches to décor.

Foscarini continues its long-term collaboration with Rodolfo Dordoni, presenting CHAPEAUX, a family of table lamps that stand out for their hat-shaped diffuser, offered in three versions using different forms and materials.
CHAPEAUX is a project based on maximum synthesis and simplification, formed by three parts that simply rest on one another. A pyrex support that almost disappears from view, a floating core of light that encloses and conceals all the technical components, and three different freely placed hats in three different materials – metal, glass and bone china.
The lamp is elegant and discreet when not in use, and produces a surprising effect when it is turned on. The light is indirect, soft, tactful: it gently bathes the transparent pyrex body, also making its thickness perceptible. To achieve this, Foscarini has developed a special lighting element: a source in the form of a vial that radiates the glow, making it reflect at the sides, inside the diffusers, to reach the table top in an intense and functional but also soft and glare-free way at the same time.

The charm of CHAPEAUX arises from observing a body that supports everything, but vanishes: three pieces, simply resting on each other, for three unique atmospheres. The pyrex body is a cylindrical stem that widens like a funnel at the two ends, welcoming the hat-diffuser without interlocks, as the characteristic feature of the lamp, for which it is named. The three hats – all with a central opening, but different in size, form and material – respond to different aesthetic needs, always with great visual lightness.
The most minimalist item in the series is CHAPEAUX M, the version with the hat-reflector in metal, conceived for contemporary interiors. Slim and light in weight, it takes an essential approach to the function of light reflected on a surface: it is thus ideal for use on a desktop.
The CHAPEAUX V hat in blown glass represents a modern interpretation of tradition. The allure of the diffuser in coated blown glass – also when the lamp is off – is amplified by the warm, welcoming light that spreads into the room when the lamp is in use.
With its soft form and limited thickness, the CHAPEAUX P diffuser is in bone china, for a refined design in a precious material providing delicate brightness, gently filtering the light while reflecting it on the surface below.
One, two, three lamps: in its three different versions, offered in a range of colours, CHAPEAUX plays with light and its effects through different forms and materials.

Materials: Pyrex, polycarbonate – Metal (Chapeaux M) / Blown glass (Chapeaux V) / Bone China (Chapeaux P)
