Double Anodizing is a decorative surface treatment for aluminium façade panels, wall cladding and other flat aluminium components. It is suitable for both interior and exterior architectural applications. By combining two anodised finishes within a single surface, a distinctive contrast is created between glossy and matt areas.
Designs are applied to the anodised surface using a specialised process. This gives each panel a refined pattern and a dynamic architectural appearance. Different sections of the surface are highlighted depending on the sunlight, lighting conditions and viewing angle. As a result, the visual effect changes subtly throughout the day, adding depth and movement to façades and interiors.
Colours and finishes
Double Anodizing is available in gold, copper, red, brass and bronze tones. These colours can be combined within a single design.
Interference colours are available as AluGrey, AluBlue and AluGreen. Due to the technical complexity and sensitivity of these colours, a successful and fully consistent result cannot be guaranteed. Testing and approval of a sample are therefore recommended before production.
During the anodising process, mineral salts are deposited into the pores of the anodised layer. This creates durable colours with excellent resistance to UV radiation and weather conditions. For exterior applications, the anodised finish has an expected service life of more than 40 years. All standard colours are covered by a 20-year warranty.
Dimensions and specifications
Double Anodizing can be applied to flat aluminium components measuring up to 3100 × 1600 mm. Any dimensions within this maximum format can be processed.
The material must be delivered to us in a flat condition. Components with a thickness of up to approximately 50 mm may be suitable, depending on their dimensions, shape, material composition and project requirements. The technical feasibility of each component is assessed before production.
Bespoke designs
For a bespoke design, artwork can be supplied as either a vector file or a pixel-based file.
Pixel-based artwork can be supplied in black and white at a maximum resolution of 100 dpi at the final production size, however we recommend 55 dpi. The design must consist exclusively of solid black and solid white pixels, as grey tones cannot be processed. We offer conversion from the coloured images to a black and white, for any image.
Resolution requirements do not apply to vector artwork. Vector files are therefore recommended for designs that require precise lines, sharp details or scaling to different dimensions.
All supplied materials and artwork are reviewed for technical feasibility before production.
