Multifaçades by STEKAR is a pressure-equalised rainscreen facade system designed to integrate cladding, glazing, and window units within a unified exterior envelope. Suitable for new construction and retrofit projects, the system can accommodate a range of facade materials, including glass, aluminium, stone, composite panels, high-pressure laminates, sintered stone, and building-integrated photovoltaic panels.

The system incorporates STEKAR’s patented flush window technology, allowing insulated glazing units to align with the cladding plane. This creates a continuous visual effect while maintaining the performance logic of a rainscreen envelope. Multifaçades is anchored to an insulated support wall behind the cladding, helping to reduce thermal bridging and improve overall envelope performance.

Its pressure-equalised cavity manages wind loads and water drainage, contributing to long-term durability, weather resistance, and building envelope reliability. The system also supports thermal and acoustic performance, helping buildings meet increasingly stringent energy-efficiency requirements.

Multifaçades is designed with independent panels, allowing individual facade elements to be removed or replaced without dismantling adjacent panels. This can support maintenance, repair, and long-term adaptability. Its suitability for retrofit applications also allows existing buildings to improve facade performance while retaining the underlying structure.

La Caserne – The Theatre for Young Audiences

La Caserne – The Theatre for Young Audiences (La Caserne – scène jeune public) occupies a former fire station designed by Georges-Émile Tanguay (1858–1923), a prolific Quebec City architect. Built in 1912, the fire station was later expanded in 1996 by the architecture practice Plante et Julien to accommodate Ex Machina, the multidisciplinary company founded by a...
