Nel explores the issue of gender and has a humane and humorous character. The lamp represents the men's straw hat, typical of the Portuguese region of Baixo Minho. The buttons accentuate the humorous intention, because Maria (the other side table) talks too much and Nel is amazed by the speech. The drawers have illustrations of the character's belongings.
