Rapsel, the innovative luxury sanitary company based in Milan, wins once again the title "Best in Bath“ at the “Best of Year Awards” (BoY) launched by Interior Design Magazine – one oft he most important design awards worldwide. The Jury, a board of editors, architects and designers awarded Rapsel for Ofurò, the bathtub entirely made from larch-wood, as their favourite bath.
Only one week later, Rapsel’s Ofurò also won the “Good Design 2010 Award” at the Chicago Athenaeum.
Ofurò is inspired by the Japanese bath that serves in particular as a treat to relax and recuperate from the daily routine. Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez have created a new bathtub
with an European form. The clean design is pared down to the essentials and harmoniously emerges out of the wood grain. Ofurò is haptic, visual and comfortable: one of a kind. “Ofurò is a mirror of what we call No-Design!”, says Matteo Thun.
Matteo Thun’s designs for Rapsel have been celebrated as among the most visionary in the world of bath design. His Lavasca Mini in black matte Cristalpant produced with
Rapsel in 2006 was included into the permanent contemporary design collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art this year. Matteo Thun and Rapsel collaborate in an
unprecedented manner to consistently combine creativity with inventive, functional and sustainable design for the bath environment.
