ORNILUX® is a bird-protection glazing system developed by arcon Glas that incorporates a UV-reflective coating visible to birds but minimally perceptible to humans. Inspired by the ultraviolet-reflective structure of spider webs, the glazing is designed to reduce bird collisions with transparent and reflective building facades while maintaining visual clarity and daylight transmission for occupants.

Developed for use in curtain walls, windows, skylights, and insulated glazing assemblies, ORNILUX® supports biodiversity-conscious facade design in urban and landscape-sensitive environments. The system has been tested and certified by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC) for bird-collision deterrence and is compliant with bird-friendly glazing requirements such as New York City Local Law 15. Depending on the configuration, the glazing can also contribute towards LEED bird-collision deterrence credits.

The product is compatible with thermal insulation and solar-control glazing systems, allowing bird-protection performance to be integrated alongside operational energy considerations. Selected configurations are also available on low-carbon glass substrates to support reduced embodied carbon impacts.
