Papillon, designed by industrial designer Giulio Iacchetti for MV Line and first presented at Milan Design Week 2025, redefines outdoor shading systems by transforming the classic outdoor parasol into a design installation. Its horizontal opening, inspired by the movement of butterfly wings, combines innovation, functionality and style, providing effective sun protection with a lightweight design and no central obstruction, keeping the space completely open and unobstructed.
When closed, the fabric folds underneath the structure, remaining protected when not in use. Papillon comes as standard with a vibration-based anemometer, which protects the fabric by automatically closing it in case of strong winds.
The structure is enhanced by dual LED lighting – integrated into the ribs and the central cover – creating a soft, atmospheric light that enhances the surrounding space during the evening hours.
In addition, the Papillon shading system offers the convenience of automatic motorised closure, which can also be operated remotely. Fully compatible with home automation systems, it ensures maximum comfort, safety and practicality.
Thanks to its distinctive features, Papillon was awarded the Archiproducts Design Award 2025 in the Outdoor category.
