Railway tracks comprise ties – which used to be made of wood – and metal rails – the long segments along which trains travel safely. These tracks, which provide travelers with a comfortable and relaxing voyage thanks to their sturdiness and their ability to weather the elements, have served as the inspiration for Railway, a project that was produced in response to a very specific design brief calling for an outdoor table that could also be used inside and that paired a sense of character with clean lines. Railway’s appearance is the result of the study of the outdoor furniture typically used in northern European countries. It consists of a lacquered metal structure created by attaching legs to a basic L shaped element that runs around the perimeter of the table’s surface, supporting its slats of untreated cedar or teak.
