Presented in Milan’s Area Sciesa, the eight piece collection will be exhibited in a visually arresting installation entitled ‘The Cloud.’ Drawing inspiration from the late 19th century Milanese street lighting, Jenner employs the era’s profound industrial and technological ambition to devise an emotive collection of contemporary lighting. Urbem’s handmade triple layered opal with glass shades are a study in convex and concave form. Impressively sized, measuring 400mm x 600mm, Jenner’s designs challenge the boundaries of what is achievable in the art of glass blowing. Each piece features an innovative crafted chain which integrates the power source with design, a hand crafted aesthetic which fulfils modern-day requirements. Christopher Jenner comments: “I am inspired by the innovation of 19th century Europe where craft and technology collided to create many of the iconic hallmarks of the present day. Our future potential lies in uniting the achievements of our past with the possibilities of our contemporary age, as demonstrated through this collection.” ‘The Cloud’ installation will simulate the effects of an ever-changing electrical storm, presenting the Urbem collection in a stunning, visually immersive display through the use of wireless LED and a reflective stainless steel vortex.
