LACROIX CHESSEX as Architects

The third project on the Chemin du Bochet in Saint-Sulpice is situated between the Guignet House and the Villa Sabbatini. This apartment building with six condominium units is devised as two combined simple volumes – two rectangular parallelepipeds with their roof ridges – into which a straight-edged trefoil form is as though die-cut. One leaflet faces north, on the road side, and accommodates the entrance area on the ground floor, while the two others respectively face south-east and south-west.

All of the three storeys are divided into two halves from north to south, each containing two apartments with 4.5 rooms (ground floor: one apartment with 4.5 rooms and one with 3.5 rooms). The distribution is symmetrical around the central staircase, allowing each apartment to have a wooden veranda on the south side, which literally brings the exterior into the daytime spaces.

Balconies at the southern extremities complete this side of the building facing onto the landscape, while the bedrooms are grouped on the north, east or west sides. The hall, kitchen, dining room and living rooms form a space with a great wealth of perspectives, including 180-degree openings and double-height rooms for the apartments on the second floor.

The wooden core and floors of the bedrooms, mineral flooring in the daytime spaces, concrete ceiling and white walls all give the apartments a raw but welcoming aspect that invites one to linger.
