108 Leonard

Jeffrey Beers International as Interior Designer

108 Leonard is an elegant landmarked condominium conversion located in Tribeca. Originally constructed in 1894, the McKim, Mead & White architectural masterpiece houses more than 150 condominium residences within the Italian Renaissance Revival-style exterior, which was meticulously restored to its original glory. The ornamental majesty offers dramatic details of scale, proportion and volume paired with contemporary design by award-winning hospitality design firm Jeffrey Beers International.

World-renowned SLCE Architects was enlisted as the architect of record for the beloved landmark, which pays homage to a gilded bygone era. On the inside, Jeffrey Beers International has designed a bright canvas of modern restraint, ready to adapt to homeowners’ individual lifestyles. Soaring ceiling heights ranging from approximately 10 feet to more than 14 feet, architectural windows and five-inch wide oak floors bring authentic European glamour to organically flowing layouts. Gallery walls awash in lighting tucked behind recessed coves will offer illuminated spaces for burgeoning art collectors.

Residents enjoy an exceptional arrival through one of the building’s three limestone entrances that feature opulent architectural details, many of which are landmarked such as the marble pillars, double staircase and landmarked chandelier that adorn the magnificent Leonard Street lobby. Homeowners may also enter through the building’s private, covered motor reception, clad in Belgian block flooring and ivory quarry pavers with valet attendant.

In a nod to this distinguished Italian Renaissance building and its Parisian counterparts, Jeffrey Beers International’s design juxtaposes classic details— oversized moldings and chevron-patterned oak floors —with contemporary touches. These elegant residences, priced from $1,535,000 to over $20 million, range in size from one- to four-bedrooms.

“Our design combines the beautiful grandeur of 108 Leonard’s historical exteriors with an elegantly modern sensibility equated to today’s New York style of living,” says architect Jeffrey Beers, founder and CEO of Jeffrey Beers International. “Through a contemporary interpretation of Renaissance Revival, layering of luxurious materiality for warmth, and attention to detail and function, the interiors are inviting, hospitable and sleek.”

Beers, who envisioned iconic restaurants for acclaimed chefs like Daniel Boulud and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, custom designed the high-performance, imported, Italian Scavolini kitchens. From the marble-sheathed backsplashes and stunning marble waterfall islands, to the top-of-the-line appliances by Miele and the Dornbacht polished chrome fixtures, every detail was thoughtfully considered to optimize warmth and efficiency.

Lavish master bathrooms, many with freestanding soaking tubs and dramatic Calacatta Black feature walls, will evoke a true sense of tranquility. High honed Calacatta Mandria marble flooring, walls and vanity countertops will offer an elegant experience, complemented by Fantini, Venezia polished chrome fixtures; custom Scavolini vanities; and sumptuous walk-in showers with sleek rain showerheads.

A bevy of hidden retreats spanning over 20,000 square feet, 108 Leonard’s amenities will provide a private escape in Tribeca. The Wellness Suite will feature a fitness center, 75-foot lap pool, hot tub, steam shower and sauna. A sprawling Entertainment Suite will boast a demonstration kitchen outfitted with Miele appliances and seating for eight, which will open to a dining area and finely-crafted lounge with multiple seating groupings and a fireplace. The space will also have a glass-walled private dining room with adjoining wine cellar, billiards room with wet bar, and screening room. A destination in its own right, the rooftop sundeck will offer a serene water feature with reflecting pool, al fresco kitchen with barbecue, dining and lounge suites with gas fireplaces, and private landscaped gardens. Amenities will also include bike storage, and parking is available for purchase.
