Design brief and proposals
ACCOMMODATION SCHEDULE:- A project brief to be developed on a project that will comprise of the following facilities:-
- Purpose designed gallery with special exhibition halls i.e 4 -6 chambers - A fully integrated outdoor sculpture garden with an amphitheatre for performing live stage shows. - An integrated set of workshops for artist to train and execute artwork with a retail outlet for direct sale to the public. - Storage facilities. - Laboratory - Library and Archives - Studios - Auditorium to seat 1500 people - Offices - Sales shops and food court. - Hall of Fame
EXHIBITION HALLS:- a- To provide electronically controlled rotating and mobile walls to create very flexible spaces. b- Permanent exhibition alcoves specially designed for specific art work. c- Storage underground workshops for repairs and refurbishment work which should be visible from strategically placed glazed ceilings linked to the main circulation zone. THE MAIN BUILDING:- a- To be a monument and a work of Art. b- To be an emblem of African Art c- To utilize natural and artificial lighting as an integral part of the building structure.
