The building volumes are sculpturally articulated in response to the prominent location of the site at the end of a green corridor. The striking, elongated building is vertically staggered and rises toward Weiherhofplatz. To the southeast, a multifunctional “ship deck” has been created, connected to the outdoor play areas by a full-depth terrace. The construction contributes to the enhancement of the public space at Weiherhofplatz.

The after-school care center is attached to the adjacent Weiherhof swimming hall, forming a cohesive architectural ensemble. An elevated, energy-optimized plaza façade was designed for the swimming hall, seamlessly transitioning into the façade of the after-school center. This creates a calm and generous edge along Weiherhofplatz.

The after-school care center occupies the entire ground floor, with all four groups oriented southeast toward the garden. On the upper floor, which houses the social-pedagogical group work rooms, the lack of direct ground-level outdoor access is compensated by the “ship deck.” The multipurpose room, with generous ceiling heights and a gallery, connects the two functional levels via an internal staircase. Internal circulation spaces are varied, attractively lit, and designed to encourage interaction and communication.
