Maximum functionality in minimal space

Brigada as Architects

The Alfa Vision eyewear store in Masarykova Street in Zagreb posed a challenge to achieving maximum functionality within a small space. By applying an innovative approach to product display and using wooden and copper decorative elements, our team has created a welcoming and functional retail space that exudes warmth.

The centre of the store is dominated by a counter that acts as a cash register as well as a point of customer service. Such a layout allows customers to freely flow through space, independently browsing and trying on products, which are accessibly displayed on long open shelves with large illuminated background. Mirrors are strategically placed throughout the store, allowing multiple customers to try on products simultaneously and thus solving the problem of overcrowding certain areas of the store.

The shop also includes a zone for eye examinations and a service area, both enclosed behind a copper door. Not visible at a first glance and only accessible to customers when accompanied by staff, these separate sections do not challenge the free flow of the store space.

The shop window serves as a mode of communication with those who pass by. By positioning products on the sides, instead of the centre of the shop window, we are not only putting them in the zone that first catches the attention of passers-by but are also creating a space from which the inside store could be observed. As such, windows act as both a display and an invitation.
