When the clients approached Go Up Arquitetura to retrofit this 90m² apartment, located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, they were looking for a project that would highlight the original characteristics of the property, while also meeting their everyday storage needs, with a lot of personality and fluidity.
When developing the project, architects Juliana Silva and Amanda Mori prioritized the demands of the family, which not only uses the house extensively, but also has several collections of records and books, requiring ample storage space. However, they didn't want a traditional woodworking aesthetic with lots of cabinets, but rather looser, more fluid furniture.
The first challenge encountered by the professionals was to create a layout that would accommodate all the collections and uses desired by the family, and one of the solutions found was to unite two rooms and remove the wall between them, creating a space where they installed a closet. Furthermore, they expanded the area of the couple's bedroom by integrating the bathroom into the suite, which provided more efficient circulation and allowed the installation of a cabinet on the window wall, serving both to store records and as a drawer for various items.
From the beginning, it was evident that clients valued natural materials, such as exposed concrete, and were looking for a more relaxed environment, with a break in color patterns. Therefore, the architects highlighted an L-shaped pillar in the kitchen area, making it visible from both the kitchen and the living room. And they also used striking elements, such as the blue porcelain floor, in the kitchen and access area, creating a contrast with the warmer and more vibrant colors present in the entrance door and in the metalwork, such as the door that divides the kitchen from the living room. , the shelves in the kitchen and living room, and the swing door that separates the balcony from the living room.
