Located in Interlagos, in the south of São Paulo, Ap.GY is the epitome of a homecoming. After years living abroad, the resident—a man in his 35s—decided to transform part of his old 82 m² apartment, renovating the kitchen and bathrooms to mark the beginning of a new phase. The project, designed by Lívia Leite of Estúdio Maré, began in January 2025 and is scheduled for completion in August of the same year.
The proposal was to completely update the wet areas, introducing new materials, textures, and a more fluid layout. The main intervention involved integrating the kitchen and living room: the old wall separating the rooms was replaced by a continuous space, connected by an island that extends into a countertop and dining table. This central piece redefines the use of the kitchen—now open, functional, and welcoming—and becomes the apartment's meeting point.
The project's visual identity is based on neutral tones and natural surfaces, punctuated by the green cladding that covers the kitchen and laundry room. This choice, made at Portobello Shop, adds personality and freshness to the entire space, complementing the custom carpentry by Made Marchi.
Technical lighting, designed by the firm itself, reinforces the light and functional atmosphere of the spaces, while Mota Engenharia led the construction. Eccomarmi marble and Telhanorte coverings complement the materiality of the project, ensuring unity and durability.
The client, who plans to gradually build the remaining spaces, sought a well-designed and coherent foundation—a solid starting point for the future. Photographed by Felco, Ap.GY reveals Estúdio Maré's careful focus on the essential: a project that, even concentrated in a few square meters, conveys the idea that starting over is also about choosing what remains.
