Apple Cherry

Apple Cherry. Where did the name of this interior come from?

This small apartment combines the energy of two cultures. New York's Big Apple energy, combined with a spirit of minimalism from the cherry blossom country. A mixture of juicy apple with cherry freshness.

What was the most important for investors?

Win with plan. The interior is about 30m2, this size of space is usually advertised by the investor with the words – "there isn’t much to do with it”

Then we think outside the box and start the design process with a motto – we have really lot to do to challenge with it.

So what made the small space gain?

The beginning is a good plan. We can rethink functionality, take care of new divisions, apply new communication solutions... That was the case here.

The bedroom on the raised platform behind the double sliding door was created at the stage of the functional plan?

Yes. The idea of a compact interior, which, depending on your needs, changes the function, found its outline already in the first plans. The bedroom creates a separate world, raised by the height of the platform. This one has storage spaces, seating. The rooms are interconnected, but if necessary they create autonomous zones. The strength of this interior is the variety of functions available – especially storage and seating.

How did the selection of materials helpedto reach an idea that was created in the initial plan?

From the beginning we focused on a certain minimalism in materials. White and light wood have set the aesthetics, pointing the inspiration towards simple yet extremely functional japanese interiors. We softened the geometry with warm fabrics. Paintings play an important role here. In the surroundings of white walls, their action is particularly intense.Through the interior is rolled juicy roses present in upholstered fabric.

How does the bathroom fit into the whole interior concept?

The bathroom is a real functional system. There is a pretty large shower as well as a small washing machine. The visual effect is undoubtedly mirrors in the bathroom. Thanks to them bathroom seems to be twice as large. We decided to use a tile with massive terazzo pattern. For us, however, it is a reference to the japanese kintsugi technique of gluing broken ceramics. Here we are dealing with a crashed stone, connected by a pale pink mass.

What are investors most happy with?

The interior amazes with its non-obviousness. That's probably what investors appreciated the most. Surprising functionality in small size. Vigorous frames of color and raw combination of wood and white. Such a large world has been arranged in such a small space.
