In this renovation project, the central theme is the creation of fluid and dynamic spatialities, designed to evolve according to the inhabitants' needs. To achieve this, the design introduces architectural "diaphragms" as the project’s pivotal element.
operate through two diametrically opposed yet complementary systems: on one side, sliding oak partitions connect the various rooms, seamlessly dissolving from view; on the other, a thickened central volume in the living area acts as a versatile core—a dynamic element capable of separating, uniting, and housing functions. The sliding partitions integrate the new dining area with the living space, resulting in an open, airy, and light-filled environment. Composed of expansive oak panels, they are suspended from a concealed ceiling track, allowing them to hover above the floor and retract completely behind the primary masonry when opened.
In contrast, the olive green storage partition is a bespoke architectural feature. Conceived as a functional, pass-through volume, it anchors the space, adding both pragmatic utility and a bold aesthetic character. The bathroom design seeks to define a wellness sanctuary inspired by Mediterranean hammams. Here, the shower is carved into an enveloping curved niche. A curated selection of materials and finishes evokes a refined, contemplative atmosphere, transforming the room into a private retreat. The irregularly formatted tiles reinforce the conceptual narrative, lending the space an authentic, textural quality.
