The interior design for the offices of a property development company was conceived by the Bratislava-based architectural studio Atelier 008. The space is located on the ground floor of the Artcentro mixed-use complex in the Vrakuňa borough of Bratislava.
The investor's brief called for the creation of an attractive and original interior that would underline the company's commitment to quality services, good design, and a client focused approach. Within a limited area, the design had to integrate a waiting zone, a front office for client contact, and a back office featuring a conference table for occasional meetings. Support requirements included segregated restroom facilities for clients and staff, a small kitchenette, and storage areas.
The greatest challenge was fulfilling all these spatial and operational requirements without making the space feel cramped or fragmented, but instead airy, open, and spacious. The solution to this challenge was the introduction of a free-standing volume with integrated restroom facilities, separated from both the front and rear walls by frameless glass partitions. This inserted block effectively separates the front and back offices in a manner that preserves the spatial integrity of the whole.
The flooring features a combination of terrazzo-effect tiles in the public area and high-quality tufted carpeting in the back office and waiting zone. Wall finishes combine natural walnut veneer with acoustic felt panels on selected surfaces. All storage spaces are seamlessly integrated into the walls. The "floating" effect of the inserted volume is further emphasized by a recessed detail where it meets the ceiling, as well as by the contrasting application of metallic silver lacquer on its walls.
The ceiling was intentionally left unfinished in its original state of exposed concrete. A random pattern of linear Flexxica luminaires, suspended at varying heights, introduces a sense of dynamic movement, a theme further reinforced by the angled cut of the inserted volume and the diagonal joint pattern of the walnut cladding panels.
The interior is completed with high-quality loose seating and workspace furniture from the manufacturer Viccarbe.
