ARTHUR RIMBAUB MUSEUM

ARTHUR RIMBAUB MUSEUM

chartier-corbasson architectes as Architects

The Rimbaud Museum is different: it is not a museum but we offer an experience, an experience of a world confrontation. A world of poetry. A poetry that Rimbaud.

No fixed works, no academic sacred, but a world in constant motion, as could be the poet.

The mill building is yet another: a kind of academic masterpiece, not really the image of Rimbaud universe.

Who cares! Take the foot against: emphasize the passage, the movement dressed again in the bridge that leads to other banks, symbol of the passage-trip. Materializing flows, failing to fix the dizziness. It will be an experience of transition and movement, then. But also sounds and colors, and why not perfume.

Inside the building, sounds, colors, images, scents, objects recreate a world in constant motion, controlled by a machine-wide space, like artificial intelligence, an echo of the mill machinery.

In the midst of this movement, the visitor's journey is clearly indicated, and worked to offer multiple positions: listen, watch, see. The work as a visitor are subject to many variations: Concert, still works, projections ...as broadly as possible onto the gardens, and the ground floor rises up to embrace a wide panoramic bay window creating a fluid, light-filled space.
