“I enter a building, see a room, and – in a fraction of a second – have this feeling about it.” – Peter Zumthor

The goal was simple: to draw our own Home!

This home would need to have the capacity to welcome us, answer our spatial needs, our functional requirements and be a lab of research, work and study. A living space, of familiarity and share. This space, Home, that welcomes us during the day, should promote an environment of its own, ours, and be the definer of our language, stimulating and sensitive, able to communicate with us and, which through, we communicate with each other. To express itself in a singular way, continuous and tangible, inciting our eyes to walk through it and interpreting it as a materialized poem, slowly declaiming its verses. The immersion in this, our, atmosphere, was the conducting wire for the thought and connection of this place, ours.

The intervention results of the appropriation of the commercial area, with approximately 300m2, on the ground level of a habitational unit, characterized by the permeability of the big windows, a transparent skin, that extends itself along the two facades communicating with the public space. Through it, we observe the skeleton which sustains this built body, the concrete elements that support the building weight and connect it to the ground. The option was to use the truth as the interventional principle, not hiding, but exposing and revealing the body, stripped, crude, raw… honest. In counterpoint, we resorted to oak wood to materialize the spatial manipulation elements and its functional and programmatic organization.

The central moment is defined by the presence of three volumes, one common horizontal volume of cohabitation and share, that formalizes the architectonic productional area, two vertical modules, permeable, which defines the administration and the engineering areas. Four sliding panels promote continuity of this central space to the areas destined for management and meeting zone. In the same way, the flexibility of the space is observed at the moment destined to the lounge and the bathrooms access. The entire space communicates, dialogs and interacts, in a continuous system of intuitive apprehension of the whole.

A manipulation, affective and emotional, that involves and connects us in a natural and sober way with the space, making us part of it, which we call empathic manipulation, a curiosity-inducing and spatially seductive place. The Home, our Home, is like that, the place where our longings, our beliefs murmur, where the silence of our future memories echo, an infinity sheet where we draw, project, discuss and think architecture.
