AURA HOUSE

Flat roofs with wide eaves—a design in which form and function work in harmony. The overhangs keep the south facade in the shade during the hottest part of the day, reducing the building’s cooling load right from the design stage, rather than retroactively through air conditioning. The building’s silhouette is clean and modern, built on the contrast of geometric volumes.

Materials include porcelain stoneware, natural stone, and HPL panels. Porcelain stoneware covers the main surfaces of the facade: it does not fade in the sun, does not absorb moisture, and withstands temperature fluctuations without cracking, ensuring the facade remains durable and requires no additional maintenance.

Natural stone is used sparingly—on the base and for select accents—giving the building a sense of weight and a connection to the landscape; as a result, the facade does not appear overly smooth or industrial. HPL panels cover surfaces where a warm, almost wood-like hue is desired: they provide the texture of wood but without its susceptibility to moisture and cracking.

Through the tall panoramic windows, the south facade opens completely onto the garden. The boundary between the house and the lot has been deliberately removed—the garden has become part of the living space.

On the first floor, in the walk-in closet, there is a mamad—a fortified room built to Israeli security standards. This space, which requires specialized engineering expertise and is rarely found in private homes in this region, is integrated here in such a way that it does not look like a bunker—it is a functional part of the everyday living space.

The terrace, with its barbecue area and pergolas, extends the kitchen-living room outdoors and effectively doubles the main living space of the house during the warmer months.

Interior

The kitchen, dining room, and living room are combined into a single open space with windows facing outward, so that whoever is at the stove can see the terrace and garden. The fantastic view of the property is a place of power, according to the clients, who have already moved into the house.

The tall living room wall is clad in travertine, as is the massive kitchen island. Paired with warm wooden paneling, the stone serves as the foundation of the color palette that unifies the spaces. A cluster of glass pendant lights above the dining table anchors the compositional center—the place where the family most often gathers.

The lounge area—featuring a sectional sofa and ivory-colored armchairs—caters to the family’s two distinct lifestyles: a quiet morning coffee and a cozy evening with guests. Herringbone-patterned quartz vinyl flooring adds a classic touch to the space, deliberately contrasting with the home’s modern architectural shell.

The clients are a close-knit family with two sons, each of whom lives in his own world of interests. The younger son dreams of traveling and collects model cars, while the older son is a big fan of video games. Bringing these two worlds together under one roof without sacrificing shared space for the whole family was another challenging task. A world map above the bed and a display case designed for the car collection transform the younger son’s room into a space that evolves along with the child’s interests. The older son has a space for studying and playing in the same room without any conflict. Sound-absorbing panels above the desk and adjustable RGB lighting solve this technically. The room changes its atmosphere on command while remaining organized.
