The historic barn, built in 1810 and expanded in 1928, is being carefully converted into living space for three people.

The renovation respects the existing building fabric and integrates the new living unit as a freestanding structure within the barn.

This approach—in which the apartment is positioned at a distance from the half-timbered walls, almost like a piece of furniture—ensures the preservation of the historic structure and protects the new rooms from the elements.

The floor plan features an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area, as well as a bedroom with an adjacent bathroom and walk-in closet. An additional unit with two rooms and a bathroom provides space for guests or a caregiver for the elderly.

The renovation is rounded out by a wellness area with a pool and restroom facilities.
The barn, which was formerly used for storage and as a utility space, is being transformed through this renovation into a practical and sustainable new use that meets current housing needs.
