The new building presents itself as a sophisticated architectural garage structure that integrates seamlessly into a residential neighborhood situated on a slope. The garage space is framed between a large underground rainwater storage tank and a south-facing photovoltaic roof. The deliberate orientation of the sloped roof lends the volume a distinctive, expressive form and creates a high spatial quality inside. An additional facade on the garden side defines the outdoor space towards the street. Access is provided at street level, while the elevated garden level is connected via an internal gallery. A large panoramic window opens the view into the garden, creating a strong visual and spatial connection between interior and exterior.
In line with sustainable building principles, all non-earth-contacting components are constructed in timber. The flush-integrated photovoltaic system, inclined at 15°, meets all legal requirements and enables efficient energy use. Rainwater is collected at the lowest point of the roof and directed into the underground storage tank, which also serves as the building’s foundation.
The choice of materials follows a consistent natural approach: the interior features high-quality spruce three-layer panels, while the exterior is defined by a distinctive pre-greyed wooden slat cladding. Flush-mounted doors and gates ensure visual clarity. A custom-designed mailbox is seamlessly integrated into the facade, reinforcing the building’s clear architectural language.
This project compellingly demonstrates how contemporary construction can combine functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability into a coherent and innovative overall concept.
