BASE Architecture Office

BASE Architecture Office

.An abandoned butcher shop experienced a re-birth into our own architectural practice office. Four weeks of work saw our first project designed and built. To make the most of the space, the inner proportions were exploited to give a feeling of depth with the work spaces arranged along each edge allowing each workstation a street outlook and access to natural light. Wanting to maintain the open nature of the office environment, whilst providing for the needs of a growing and operational office, it was decided to core large port holes through the 70 year old red brick structure. The result of these holes allows communication between the two office spaces. To the rear and front of the office large doorways were cut to allow access to the new boardroom and studio spaces. The curtain provides a visual barrier at night and the butcher’s door on the rear boardroom provides a contextual link to the previous use of the space.
