Bayard

Located at the intersection of Charest Boulevard and Bayard Street, Chez Bayard is a mixed-use rental building with commercial spaces on the first floor and twenty units on the upper floors. The main volume has been split in two along the east-west axis to better integrate with the residential profile of the Saint-Sauveur neighbourhood. On rue Bagot, the three-storey volume better fits the residential building of the Saint-Sauveur district and accommodates the townhouses, whose silhouette is revealed by the extruded French balconies on the upper floors and the independent recessed entrances that animate the façade. On Charest Boulevard, a height of four-storey was chosen to highlight the distinctive character of the artery and allows for the integration of two commercial premises with large windows on the main artery. On the roof of the main volume, a large landscaped common terrace offers each dwelling a space with a breathtaking view of the Upper Town of Quebec City. The generous fenestration is part of a regular pattern of masonry that marks the presence of the structure and floors. Finally, the masonry gradually gives way to lightweight cladding on the upper floors to lighten the volume.
