Two site-integrated sculptural installations made of transparent dichroic material move through the space like a river’s waves. The first Wave, located directly in the vestibule, greets visitors. The second Wave runs across the grand foyer. Both Waves are suspended about 12 feet above the floor, reaching toward the ceiling. The Waves run toward each other on different planes, visually intersecting in mid-air, forming a dynamic and memorable composition.

The design allows for thought, interpretation, and reinterpretation many times over. One might read the artwork to represent flowing water, the waves of Lake Bemidji or the mighty Mississippi, or even waves of “success.” One might just as easily see the piece as representative of an elegant theatrical curtain, hovering above the Event Center’s entrance areas, as if to signal the exciting start of a great show.

The transparent waves are made of artistically treated dichroic 3-Form material and suspended by stainless steel cables.
