Bergue Jewelry chose Chiado, in Lisbon, for the opening of its second store, which consolidates the brand’s characteristic ‘store atelier’ typology, with a particular approach centered on customer experience and personalized service. This translates into the creation of an exhibition route that presents the pieces in articulation with their design and manufacturing process, allowing visibility into the workshop where the jewelers shape and work the metal.
The project encompassed the design of all components — display and support furniture, exhibition accessories, lighting elements — ensuring unity throughout the space. With a focus on the customer journey and the functionality of the space, the composition articulates light and furniture in a way that reconciles the use of the exhibition and sales area with the ‘in situ’ atelier.
The floor and window displays stand out for their black color, which creates a link with the pre-existing iron frames and enhances the brilliance of the jewelry pieces. The lighting, using narrow beam spotlights, highlights the display surfaces. The wall displays take on a sculptural character while blending into their surroundings through the use of the same color and the integration of lighting, avoiding the presence of intrusive technical elements. The refinement was taken to the maximum, using an invisible magnetic fixing method for the jewelry supports and a unified principle for the light fixtures, which are shaped according to their location using equal tubes.
The deliberate choice of a formal language of solid, serene volumes for the furniture creates a neutral backdrop, allowing the jewelry pieces to take center stage within the space.
