Brahminy House | HGA Studio

Harley Graham Architects as Architects

Brahminy House, is located in a dense coastal community situated on the eastern cape of Byron Bay. The house is a thoughtful addition to Byron Bay's beachfront and is a testament to enduring coastal design. The clients approached us with a vision that centred around the idea of a modern coastal retreat that seamlessly blended natural surroundings while providing a luxurious and tranquil experience. Their brief emphasized a desire for a connection to nature, maximized views of the bay and coastal heath, and a harmonious integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. This was achieved through a design that had a sense of timelessness and focused on durable materiality in response to the harsh environment in which it is situated. Through the use of concrete, spotted gum and the integration of landscape. An array of lush plantings envelops the structure, softening the distinction between the built form and the surrounding native reserve.
