Dear members of the cooperative, Realizing a project is a matter of patience, sometimes even endurance. One cannot be an architect without knowing this. With this project, I have seen how time has its virtues and how it can give rise to beautiful stories.
Born from the desire to shape one’s life independently, the project sought from the very beginning to be open and generous. By bringing together the residents—the driving force behind this initiative—with the specialized Jordils School for children aged 6 to 16, a welcoming apartment run by the Verdeil Foundation to help young adults gain independence, a shared multipurpose room, a guest apartment, various spaces for meeting and shared activities, and common ouches (gardens), everything seems in place for it to flourish.
The process of creating an eco-district of this scale, however, inevitably brings its share of surprises, joys and disappointments, small and large frustrations, as well as small and large victories. Its unfolding story is already rich with these experiences, and the beauty of this adventure lies in the spirit of sharing and companionship it has fostered—the result of a group whose strength has been to turn challenges into opportunities.
Here, cooperation takes on its full meaning: when collective intelligence helps us find new ways forward, when the solutions we discover surprise and inspire us, when allowing ourselves to be guided into territories we had never imagined brings genuine joy, and when shared effort strengthens friendship.
Dear members of the cooperative, this project aims to reflect your qualities. It hopes to become the setting for your happiness. With its courtyard, its elevated garden, the diversity of its meeting spaces—sometimes a little hidden—and the richness of its program, my team and I hope to express the beauty of a certain maturity so that, in your eyes, the most beautiful flower of the Plaines-du-Loup eco-district may blossom.
