The customer need was to build a house with low energy consumption, Arch. Manuel Benedikter has decided to build a house that follow the CasaClima standard to achieve a very high performance. To realize the project, it started from the analysis of climate data of the site. It’s a very difficult environment because of the steep slope and exposure to the winds of the valley, however, the position allows to enjoy an excellent sun exposure and a beautiful view of the mountain panorama. The house is built on three floors, the ground floor is positioned at the same level of the street. In this floor we find the living area, the kitchen and the principal bedroom. A large terrace is located near the kitchen to enjoy the view. On the first floor is the bedroom area for guests.
The house is a reinterpretation of the traditional style of Bergamo with a gable roof and a portico. The compact and regular volumeare ideal for a double-pitched roof. Protruding flaps forming a frame to the facade framed by four pillarswhich emphasize the archetypal building geometry.
The building was built in masonry and concrete, an external insulating layer was added to improve envelope energy performance, it was finished with plaster on the ground and first floor, the basement has been finished with local stone.
The Fixtures are high performance and guarantee along with vertical and horizontal opaque structures tightness required to achieve a high energy efficiency of the building.
A mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery ensures internal air ensuring clean air and living comfort in every month of the year. The final energy performance of the building is 10 kWh/m²year certified CasaClima Gold.
