The second Drekka cafe and shop in Sofia opened in late 2020 in the middle of times of chaos and global pandemic. Situated in the historic center of the city, on a quiet street, it is a conversion of an old cigars shop lined with its heavy leather coverings and walnut wall panels. The design transforms the space into a bright and colorful street pocket that opens to the pedestrian traffic with its sliding folding facade system. The Drekka cyan is the focal point of a color palette full of bespoke details in pale pink (the shelving), marble (the community table) and cement (the counter). The main challenge in the project was to open the shop in the short space of 4 weeks while overseeing a total interior overhaul on a shoestring budget of 5000euro.
