Set in Castro Marim, between the Atlantic and the mountains, Camaleão reinterprets the Algarve landscape through a residential development that is bioclimatic in principle and vernacular in spirit. Still in its early stages, the project draws on a rigorous reading of the region's traditional architecture, favoring simple forms, authentic materials, and a conscious constructive logic over anything imported or imposed.

A terraced layout minimizes impact on the land, while private patios attached to each housing unit deliver natural light, cross ventilation, and continuous outdoor living without sacrificing privacy, letting every home merge into the landscape rather than sit apart from it.

More than a name, Camaleão is conceived as a manifesto, an argument for the ability to adapt, to hold a dialogue with its surroundings rather than override them. In an Algarve increasingly pulled between local identity and tourist pressure, the project positions itself as a counterweight: proof that new development can prioritize energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and the preservation of native flora while still building something people want to live in. It's less a single house than a proposition for how the region might grow, memory and consciousness built into the ground plan from the start.
