"Capturing Light" is an urban residence by Min Design that intricately explores the dynamics of light. Despite challenges posed by neighboring structures and limited window exposures, the design ingeniously captures and manipulates light to craft intimate and contemplative spaces. Through a delicate balance of direct, indirect, reflected, and borrowed lighting techniques, the house emerges as a luminous sanctuary amidst the urban landscape.

At its heart lies the four-story stairwell, serving as both a spatial connector and a canvas for dynamic light sculptures, which animate the space through folded planes and clerestory openings. A sunken courtyard, cleverly designed with partially-covered elements, acts as a light-reflecting oasis, infusing below-grade spaces with radiance by day and transforming into an enchanting spectacle with color-changing LED installations by night. Inside, the meditation room invites serenity with its interplay of light, shadow, and texture, further enhanced by strategic interior shutters that modulate illumination and views.

Meanwhile, the powder room juxtaposes textures and materials to create a chiaroscuro effect, enriching the living spaces with depth and intrigue. Through this project, Min Design redefines urban living, offering inhabitants moments of transformative delight.
