First phase. Refurbish

The rehabilitation project of the building located in Calle Don Fadrique in Seville has several phases and many participants.

It all started when the manager of a bank, a friend of Marta and Paco, architects of the Curtidores de Sevilla studio, and Carolina, a regular collaborator of the studio, invited them to take part in a restricted competition organized by the local construction company Quales.

The Casa Fadrique project is located on a protected gothic plot, which is poorly lit and ventilated in the rear dwellings.  The starting conditions for the property were obvious: to maintain the existing location of the dwellings for regulatory reasons and to bring to light the true nature of the building. All this on a tight budget.

The challenge was launched!

The work of the Curtidores studio is based on demonstrating through architecture its commitment to the environment and to society.

The intervention is a consequence of previous work, both in terms of rehabilitation (from a constructive perspective) and in terms of visualizing and making contemporary spaces possible in long-standing architecture.

Extracting the combination of materials, textures, arts and encounters, which are traditionally always hidden and are uncovered to the exterior for its enjoyment. In short, the search for detail in pre-existing architecture.

Second phase. Domesticate

After some time closed, the Fadrique house gets a new opportunity. New owner and new possibilities. To carry out this work, they hire the sustainable architecture studio Positivelivings, formed by the architects Clara Ulargui and Luis Aguilar, together thanks to the Sevillian architect Carolina Prieto de la Viesca, an expert in the building.

The brief is easy. To adapt and humanize the building to the use for which it was conceived. All in record time and with a tight budget.

From the very first moment, the architects contracted are clear that the intervention carried out by Curtidores is impeccable and that it has to be maintained and shown as it is. The strategy, to incorporate minimal details in the concept of furniture and incorporate Cubro Design kitchens that stand out and improve the space.

The result is clear to see. Quality of spaces and luminosity in a complex building between party walls.
