A Chromatic Refuge: Contemporary High-Intensity Living in Alfedena

Located in Alfedena, within the heart of the Abruzzo Apennines, Casa M+A by Studio Manuarino transforms a small mountain dwelling into a refined exercise in contemporary micro-living. Moving away from traditional alpine clichés, the project adopts a "tailor-made" approach where color and matter become the primary tools for spatial and narrative definition.

The architectural envelope is defined by a rigorous continuity of surfaces. The use of seamless micro-cement and resin for both floors and wall coverings creates a fluid, monochromatic interior landscape. This neutral backdrop amplifies the perception of space while serving as a powerful stage for bold chromatic interventions. Within this setting, the kitchen emerges as the identity-defining core through a total-color amaranth treatment, establishing a vibrant dialogue with the deep green hues of the living area and the graphic precision of black technical details.

The artisanal dimension of the project is manifested in the bespoke oak cabinetry, which transcends mere furniture to become an architectural skeleton, regulating flows and integrating domestic functions with millimetric precision. This textural research finds its peak in the sleeping area, where a custom-milled oak headboard transforms into a three-dimensional architectural boiserie. Bridging the gap between memory and modernity, the lava stone fireplace with a steel floor insert stands as the symbolic heart of the home, reinterpreting the traditional hearth through a sharp, contemporary material lens.

The result is an interior design work that blends high-quality craftsmanship with compositional rigor, redefining mountain living through a unified language where every detail contributes to a complex and coherent perceptual experience.
